Notes on Inna

Notes on Inna

♦ The HON (Harf of Nasb) makes its Ism nasb.

اللهُ غَفُورٌ

becomes

إِنَّ اللهَ غَفُورٌ

The only change it brings is it takes its ism to nasb. The Khabr remains as such.

♦ The HON can tolerate a long distance relationship.

إِنَّ فِيهَا قَومًا جَبَّرِين

The mowsoof-sifah قَومًا جَبَّرِين is the ism of Inna here.

♦ When we use pronouns with HON, we use the nasb/jarr version.

نَحنُ مُسلِمُون

When we bring a HON in the above sentence نحن will change to نا

It is written as either إِنَّا or إِنَّنَا (It is said that إِنَّنَا is more emphatic than إِنَّا)

إنا مُسلِمون or إِنَّنَا مُسلِمُون

  • Go through pages 41 and 42 for more details.

Practice the HON with various pronouns like:

  • لَيتَ + إِنَّ = لَيتَنِي
  • إِنَّ + هُوَ = إِنَّهُ
